Honda City Diesel Variant From Honda

Honda City is a subcompact car manufactured and designed by the Japanese manufacturer Honda since 1981. The very first generation Honda City was introduced in the year 1996. Honda City hatchback was aimed essentially at the Japanese domestic market. Most of Indian drivers are crazy for Japanese cars because of their high definition features and excellent consistency that is in the offing. Honda is highly appreciated in India for it’s petrol vehicles and was found wanting for small diesel car in India. Honda Motors assured that in few years time they are to introduce high tech diesel model for the Indian market. They are gearing up their manufacturing for launching the new diesel variant of the popular Honda City.

The Japanese automakers target models for the new diesel variant will be City and Jazz.  The engine is being developed as a smaller version of the existing 2.0L iDTEC engine and will contribute in raising the number of Honda models with diesel engines available in India. Honda CR-V and Accord are the models having a diesel engine.

Honda City Diesel will come fully loaded with all active and passive safety features which is very useful in diesel car models. Honda has included some elegant features like ABS “Anti-Lock braking system” with brake assist, dual SRS airbags, pre-tensioned seat belts and G-Force control technology body with a crush-proof survival zone. The front look structure ensures higher pedestrian safety features. with the new City, these safety features are now a standard offering across the entire range of Honda cars.

Pricing of this new Diesel City is around 11 lakh rupees, a little more than the petrol version. The major part is that Honda India is keeping quiet about the power of this vehicle. In most likelihood it will be most probably less than the petrol engine.

  1. The Honda City diesel variant is expected to come powered by a 1.4L iCTD. The company is yet to disclose any information regarding the specifications of Honda City diesel engine as it is still in the study and research stage
